“For 2008, we estimate an increase of 15-20 percent in turnover, due to lower mark-ups. Also, the fact that we allow our clients to configure their own systems they are buying is an advantage,” the company’s General Manager, Adrian Furnica, told Business Standard.
According to Romsoft estimates, the company’s IT retail market share was some 20 percent by the end of last year and it plans to maintain the same ratio this year.
Romsoft sell its own computer brand, DC. However, company officials declined to provide the number of own brand units sold last year, as the retailer’s sales are not made up of pre-configured systems. “We can say we sold some 45,000 processors last year, but part of these were not sold with a DC computer,” Furnica said.
Some 693,516 PCs were sold in 2007 in Romania.
