The offer mainly targets small and medium-sized enterprises (SME). Company officials estimate that some 80 percent of clients attracted by this offer will be SMEs.

Last summer, the company launched a similar offer for the residential segment, by providing free phone terminals.

Romtelecom, controlled by Greek group OTE, currently has more than three million subscribers, of which some 2.7 million are individuals and the remainder are companies. By the end of last year’s third quarter, 39 percent of Romtelecom’s income came from business subscribers.

Formerly a state-owned company, Romtelecom lost some 25 percent of its clients in the past few years, following a liberalization of the telecom market. However, most subscribers who opted for other operators were individuals. The company’s main competitors are RCS&RDS and UPC, which did not make public the company/individual ratio in their subscriber portfolio.
