The new subscription includes 50 minutes of international calls, was created for individuals who often call abroad, and targets both current subscribers and those who are currently not clients of the operator.
The minutes can be used on any day and at any time for calls to landline networks in the European Union, and to landline and mobile operators in the U.S. and Canada.
The operator’s revenue declined 2.6 percent last year, down to €871.1 million, due to the loss of some 400,000 landline service subscribers. The 650,000 new subscribers to Romtelecom’s internet and satellite TV services in 2007 have not made up for the loss.
The company is controlled by Greek communication group OTE and the Romanian state, through its Ministry of Communications, with 54.01 percent and 45.99 percent, respectively.
