Metro AG, Germany's largest retailer, said its revenues in Eastern Europe climbed 13.2 percent, an increase fueled by meaningful revenues in Romania, Ukraine and Russia.
The group posted sales of 5.2 billion euros in Eastern Europe, while total sales in the first six months stood at 14.8 billion euros, 5.2 percent more than the same period last year.
Metro Cash&Carry posted sales in Western Europe of 6 billion euros, 0.4 percent more than the first six months of last year. Metro Cash&Carry entered the Romanian market in 1996 and now operates as many as 23 hypermarkets in the country.
