“We decided to open this campus because we want to be a part of the Romanian school system. Although we are a private school, our rules are strict,” according to a statement for Business Standard by Simona Baciu, founder of the Cluj International School. According to Simona Baciu the project is being developed in partnership with the Cluj-Napoca Local Council and Holcim Romania.
Construction will be completed in 2010, and the entire investment is estimated to be worth €12 mln. In 2004, the school was given a lease for 16,000 square meters from the Local Council and Cluj City Hall.
The campus will have a nursery school, kindergarten, junior high, high school, library, dorms, cafeterias, playground and gym. Its amphitheater, conference room, event hall, and pool will be open to the public. The Cluj International School also plans to establish a training center next year.
“Every teacher that comes to this institution will first undergo intensive training,” said Simona Baciu.
Annual fees for grades 1-4 is €2,100, and for grades 5-8 €2,300.
The school’s teachers will have certain benefits, such as meal tickets and wage bonuses.
