Fifteen of Romania’s companies are among top earners in Southeastern Europe. According to the study, quoted by the Romanian Agency for Foreign Investments (ARIS), Romanian companies included in the analysis had total net sales last year of €15.2 billion.
Petrom posted net sales in 2007 worth €3.4 billion, according to Seenews.
Other Romanian companies with excellent performance in the region are Rompetrol Rafinare, in sixth place, retailers Metro, in tenth place, and Billa, Orange and Vodafone mobile telephone operators, Distrigaz Sud, Romtelecom fixed phone operator, Transelectrica, Alro steel works, and Oltchim chemical company.
“The authors of the analysis claim that the high level of foreign direct investments attracted and local consumption sustained Romania’s economic growth in the past few years,” according to an ARIS press release, quoted by Mediafax.
