The main reason for a lack of skilled workers is migration, according to a study published by Soros Foundation , based on a poll among local managers. Some 75 percent of managers questioned named migration as the main cause for the personnel crisis. The poor skills of young graduates, competition, and low salaries are also reasons for the worker shortage.
Half of the companies included in the study faced difficulties finding personnel and 70 percent indicated it is likely they will face such problems in the short-run. In the textile industry, and the construction and restaurant fields, where the crisis is deeper, there is a significant turnover of staff. Some 40 percent of companies in those fields said that the turnover exceeds 20 percent.
