Shares performing better when market declines

65 companies listed on BVB's main market and 17 companies listed on Rasdaq were studied for the beta index, calculated based on monthly values of stock and the BET index (of the top 10 listed companies) in the past five years. 

During decline on the stock market, the utilities companies sector was stronger, according to market analysts. "If they do not grow, they at least stagnate. Unfortunately, this sector is poor here, so companies cannot hold on for long," according to an analyst of brokerage company Broker Cluj, Mihai Alexa. 

Electricity transport company Transelectrica's elasticity index is 1.11, while the index of gas transport company is 0.64.
Values below 1 show the stock price will increase or decrease less than the market, while negative values show an evolution against the market - prices increase when the market declines and drop when the market grows.
