The values were computed with the reference the price of shares registered in 27 October, when all BVB indexes plunged to their lowest values of 2008. Brokers expect that the market will not have to experience through such a difficult period as that last October, and are confident that the current stabilizing trend can be maintained at least until this year’s first financial results are announced.
“I do not expect to see spectacular changes in the first quarter, in terms of price fluctuation. The current stabilizing trend will most likely continue, after which we can expect slight rises,” said Marius Trif, General Manager of Carpatica Invest. The BET-FI index which monitors the evolution of the SIFs, and the BET-XT index of the top 25 most liquid financial shares on BVB, rose 37.1 and 11.9 percent, respectively, compared to values these registered at the end of October 2008.
“For the moment, the feeling on the market is one of uncertainty, of fear lest something bad should happen economically,” Trif added.
