Six energy companies to bid for CET Fantanele

Termoelectrica General Manager Ioan Ungureanu said that production could increased to 250 MW following a €250 million investment. According to data from Electrocentrale Bucharest, companies expected to bid for CET Fantanele are Edison Italy, E.ON Germany, Romgaz Romania, Verbund Austria, Unit and Wienstrom Austria, CEZ Czech Republic, GDF Suez and the Istroenergo - Slovnaft consortium. Electrocentrale Bucharest representatives indicated that the investor will be selected after some market research and technical-economic studies. Of all companies that will bid for CET Fantanele, state-owned Romgaz Medias gas producer had a special interest. Romgaz plans to build a new group of 300 MW at CET Fantanele, located close to the largest Romanian gas field, exploited by Romgaz.

Eight companies and one consortium will also bid for the modernization of Bucharest-based CET Progresu, including Edison, a consortium made up of Slovnoft and Istroenergo Group Slovakia, GDF Suez, Unit Inv. NV, Verbund Austria, Fortum Power and Heat Oy (subsidiary of the Finnish Fortum energy group), Dalkia Romania, E.ON Kraftwerke, and CEZ Romania.
