Slovakia overthrew Romania in terms of growth rate in the construction sector

Romania ranked first in the EU in terms of construction sector growth in October, with an annual increase of 17.8 percent, according to revised data of Eurostat.

Adrian State, General Manager of Den Braven, a major construction material producer, confirms the annual growth rate. He believes the market is “in shock” due to the financial crisis.

The construction sector dropped by an annual 4.2 percent in the European Union in November 2008, while countries in the euro zone registered a higher year-on-year decline, of 4.7 percent.
