This is the highest rate of growth registered in the second quarter, driving the whole PC market to rise by 29 percent in terms of units, and by 23.3 percent in value, while the desktop and notebook segment did not rise by more than 20 percent in value, and by 18 percent and 49 percent, respectively, in terms of units.

“The server market has recently experienced a dynamic similar to that of the notebook market, without however reaching the quotas registered by the former segment. While server segment growth was moderate in previous years, somewhere around 20-30 percent, this has now reached 69.6 percent in Q1 2008, and 49.7 percent in Q2,” said Dragos Nicolaescu, Country Manager for Fujitsu Siemens Romania.

Nicolaescu believes that growth on this segment is not due only to large projects in the government and private sectors, but also due to increasing demand, especially from small and medium-sized enterprises (SME). He went on to say that growth driven by small enterprises has actually been significant lately, which demonstrates an understanding of the need for using professional equipment, suited to the needs of the business, and which safeguards data.
