“We plan to post a growth rate similar to that registered by the local industry in 2009. Of course, nobody can avoid the global turbulences. We estimate that the global IT market will register a four percent increase, considering the recession, and in Romania growth will amount to some 10-12 percent,” Irina Socol, Siveco Romania’s General Manager, told Business Standard. She added that the global IT market currently has a very high absolute value, due to the sustained growth in the past ten years. Also, the Romanian market is beginning to mature, which means that IT instruments will be acutely needed.

Socol added that the economic crisis could boost the local IT market, as companies will direct their budgets toward IT investments. “In the context of current international turmoil, investments will be directed rationally and intelligently toward fields vital for development. IT is such a field, which can help overcome blockages,” said Socol.
