The statistics include only those brands currently in the division’s portfolio, as it ceased importing Mercedes-Benz, Smart, Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge, and Mazda last year, sales of which totaled 5,500 units in 2006.
The growth is due to both the development of the territorial network and the sale of brands with growth potential higher than the overall car market.
Tiriac Holdings' auto division presently imports Mitsubishi, Land Rover, Jaguar, Ford and Hyundai brands. The auto group within Tiriac Holdings includes an import division and a retail network, known as TiriacAuto.
The company’s main competitors are Porsche Romania, Renault Nissan Romania and General Motors Southeast Europe.
Car sales in Romania are likely to rise by up to 10 percent year-on-year in 2008. Some 350,000 cars were expected to be sold in 2007.
