The new store will cover a total 1,250 square meters, of which 800 sqm will make up the sales area offering 7,375 products. Spar is collaborating with 389 suppliers for its Petrosani store, and will have 41 employees.
The company entered the Romanian market in 2005, since then opening stores in Arad, Resita, Deva, Odorheiu Secuiesc, Alba Iulia (3 stores), Hateg, Medias, Ramnicu Valcea, Orsova, and Sfantu Gheorghe, and it operates a hypermarket in Targu Mures, with total investment exceeding €22 million.
Its medium-term development objective involves the opening of stores in a further 55 locations around the country, including Bucharest and all major cities, to reach 250 stores.
Spar has over 13,700 stores in 33 countries on 4 continents, whose total turnover exceeded €27 billion in 2006.
