Spar posted €37.5 million turnover in Romania

Spar plans to invest about €18 mln to open 12 more stores.

According to General Manager Rino Tizzanini, the average cost of a Spar store is €1.5 mln. The first store will be opened in Constanta. Spar plans to open 55 stores in the medium-term, including in Bucharest.

The supermarkets are operated by Spar Arad, which owns the franchise for .

Internationally, Spar posted net sales worth €27.2 billion in 2007, through 13,604 stores in 33 countries on four continents.

Spar’s main Romanian supermarket competitors are Billa, Profi, Interex, Angst, Fidelio, G’market, Primavara, and Ethos.
