The company is building a milling and bakery complex, to become totally operational next summer. It is one of the largest investments on this segment in Romania and Eastern Europe, according to company representatives.
Production could be expanded in future, if the company secures financing and expands to other segments. It is also considering selling products on foreign markets.
“The current capacities are reasonable for Romania and Central Europe. We hope to find funds for expansion and enter other segments in the coming years,” Spicul President, Gheorghe Ilie, told Business Standard.
The Chitila unit currently has an hourly production capacity of 3,800 loaves of bread. On the cookie segment, capacity amounts to 500-700 kilograms per hour, while for pasta, the unit can produce 1,500 kg per hour.
The local baked goods market is worth some €2 billion, with Spicul, Boromir, Titan, Vel Pitar, Dobrogea and Pambac as main players.
