Steady growth exceeding 30% for construction work

The highest advance, of 45.7 percent in terms of value, was registered in non-residential construction work (office and commercial buildings). Residential projects advanced 26.6 percent, while engineering projects rose 32.7 percent.

Compared to October 2007, the value of construction work dropped 6.5 percent. The downward trend was caused by a 14.3 percent slowdown in engineering projects, while residential and non-residential projects rose more than 2.5 percent.

According to data from the European Union’s statistics office, Eurostat, the growth of the construction segment in Romania was 15 times higher than the EU average in October 2007.
