The position of president of BVB could be amalgamated with that of General Manager, position for which Farmache is proposed. Practically speaking, BVB's General Manager will no longer execute decisions made by the Board of Directors, but will be able to decide on matters such as the setting of the institution's development strategy, determining conditions for admission, exclusion, or suspension from trading, or administering and providing information to the public.

The President's vote is decisive when members of the Board are evenly divided. Stoica mentioned that he is stepping down from this position, even if shareholders will not like the new structure.

"It is desirable that the President be entirely neutral. This is about a position which will compromise between neutrality and commitment," explained BVB's President. When questioned by Business Standard, Farmache said that Stoica's proposal both "honors and makes him responsible," going on to mention that if the amendments to BVB's by-laws are passed, he will agree to run for the position. "I will carry on the strategy recently adopted by the Stock Exchange's shareholders, but with much clearer accents on certain segments," said Farmache.

Septimiu Stoica said he will part from the Stock Exchange but not from the capital market. "I will most likely return to the law, as there are many such companies interested in the capital market. I want to focus on brokerage and investment banks," said BVB's President. He is also considering teaching again.

"If the General Manager carries out the function of president, this will provide greater flexibility, and BD decisions will be transmitted more easily to the executive management," said Dan Paul, President of the Association of Brokers and member of the Board of Directors.

The Bucharest Stock Exchange has over 90 shareholders, most of which are brokerage firms. BVB's Board of Directors includes Septimiu Stoica - President, Ovidiu-Sergiu Pop - Vice President, Dan Paul - Vice President, and members Mircea Botta, Rares Nilas, Adrian Manaila, Dana Mirela Ionescu, and Petru Prunea.
