The Austrian ATX index ranks third, with a 5.86 PER. According to STK data, only two of the 13 countries have a PER above 10. At the European level, highest profit expectations are in France, where the CAC 40 index has a 9.73 PER.
For the Romanian stock exchange, the PER indicator is computed for BET as a ratio between the weighted market value of companies included in the index at the reference moment in time and the profit (own weighted funds).
The profit is updated annually with results from the first quarter of 2008. According to STK analysts, the Romanian market registered the lowest yields compared to European and American markets.
On the other hand, the BET-FI index is the most volatile index of all considered, compared to the S&P 500 reference index. Of foreign indexes, the FTSE 100 and CAC 40 have the lowest variations compared to the American index.
