“Companies do not want to hire when most of the staff is on holiday, because this extends the adjustment period by at least one month, meaning an extra salary,” according to HR Profiles International consulting company Manager Doru Dima.
Furthermore, employees are less willing to change their jobs in summer, as a vacation helps them relax and put their discontent on hold, HR consultants say. “Candidates have begun caring about their personal lives, and think of summer vacations rather than looking a new job," according to HR Career Solutions International CEO, Irina Manolescu.
However, companies have openings throughout the year. “Although we have important recruiting demands in summer, the recruitment process can take up to two or three months because decision-makers are on holiday,” according to Manpower Romania’s Branch Manager Luiza Petrica.
