“The main factor which influenced this result was the private segment market evolution, which exceeded our expectations,” said Gabriel Tomescu, Country Manager of Symantec Romania.

The company is estimating sales worth €5 million on the enterprise segment by the end of the year, of which €2.3 mln for security solutions, and €2.7 mln for data recovery solutions. Symantec expects a 50 percent market share in 2009.

The increase of hacking attacks has lead to the acquisition of a large number of IT security products, which is the growth engine of specialized companies. Romania ranks third worldwide in terms of phishing sites, after China and the United States.

According to IDC Romania research company, the local IT security market will increase by some 30 percent in 2008, to about €10.83 mln.
