"Greater interest in home cinema systems, as well as the business and educational sector dynamics influence the evolution of the projector market. Considering developments of small and medium-sized enterprise (SME) and equipment needs in the educational system, we expect a market increase rate of 20-25 percent in the coming years," said Epson's representative.
In Romania, business series videoprojectors or projectors used in the business sector still hold the lead in sales, while in Central European countries an important share is held by individual users of home cinema projectors. "Our estimates show that 5-7 percent of the domestic market moves towards home cinema, in Central Europe the percentage is about double, while in Western European countries the home cinema percentage is higher than 35 percent," added Simona Decuseara.
After Romania's accession to the European Union, clients shifted their preference from cheapest products to more expensive ones, according to Decuseara. In the medium term, Epson Romania expects that clients will choose products based on performance, home users choosing the product according to their needs, while corporate clients will make the choice based on return of investment, explained Simona Decuseara. If a few years back the sale of a single projector was an event, some 2-3 percent of PC buyers choose a projector too, she added.
Epson Romania has a 13 percent share of the projector market, and the target share set for 2007 is 20 percent.
