On the other hand, the BET index increased 7.7 percent since the beginning of the year, registering its best start since 2005, when it rose 9.5 percent.
However, brokers are not fooled by the good start of 2009, especially considering the fact that 2008 was the worst year in the history of the Bucharest Stock Exchange (BVB).

Optimism has rapidly swept through the entire market, considering that most liquid companies registered increases of over five percent. Petrom shares rose 5.85 percent yesterday, while Transelectrica gained 6.19 percent.
