Liquidity boosted 63 percent to 31.3 million lei (8.42 million euros) from 19.8 million lei in the previous session.

“We have noticed investors' special interest in BRD-SocGen and Petrom shares. Besides that, we do not see too much excitement for buying,” broker with WBS Romania, Florin Catinas said.

The main European bourses posted slight increases today on healthy evolution of the banking sector. The FTSE index in London gained 0.77 percent to 5,897, the DAX index in Frankfurt rose 0.78 percent to 6,772 and the CAC40 index in Paris hiked 1.15 percent to 4,922.

In Romania the BET index of the ten top companies on BSE rose 1.48 percent to 7,108.88 and the BET-C composite index measuring all listed shares minus investment funds gained 1.22 percent to 5,085.40.

The BET-FI index of the five financial companies SIFs climbed 0.64 percent to 53,883.23 and the ROTX index for trading blue-chips in Vienna advanced 2.02 percent to 16,179.05.

The investment funds drew 10.79 million lei from investors (some 34 percent of the total amounts on BSE) but saw slight hikes after the number of sellers increased towards the end of the session.

Shares of SIF Oltenia (SIF5) drew the second liquidity on the market of 3.39 million lei and inched 0.69 percent to 2.93 lei. SIF Muntenia (SIF4) climbed 0.61 percent to 1.65 lei on deals of 2.16 million lei.

SIF Moldova (SIF2) rose 0.42 percent to 2.41 lei and SIF Banat-Crisana (SIF1) hiked 1.58 percent to 2.57 lei. SIF Transilvania (SIF3) idled at 1.53 lei.

Shares of BRD SocGen (BRD), the second lender by assets, were the most liquid today with deals of 6.87 million lei and rose 1.96 percent to 20.80 lei. Erste Bank (EBS) listed on the international tier of BSE hiked 4.04 percent to 162.30 lei. Fifth lender by assets, Banca Transilvania (TLV) inched 0.68 percent to 0.74 lei.

Oil company Petrom (SNP) advanced 1.91 percent to 0.426o and oil refinery Rompetrol Rafinare (RRC) inched 0.40 percent to 0.0753 lei.
