Appreciating professional employees, granting bonuses and benefits in a fair and transparent manner, organizing internal seminars and training programs in order to prepare employees to successfully weather the economic crisis, could be the key to success, said Sorin Roibu, Managing Director of the Arthur Hunt executive search company. Roibu added that enterprises should focus on empathy and solidarity.
Although companies tend to cut their HR budgets in times of crisis, specialists say this is not the best decision. “Companies should not reduce investments in personnel development, in order to be able to function in the long-run and hold on to their key employees,” said Csaba Gergely, President of HR Club.
The advantage of a recession is that employees have fewer daily activities and can use their free for training and professional development activities. “Instead of staying home and receiving 85 percent of their salary, they could come to work for training activities and receive the same payment,” said Doru Dima, Manager of the Profiles International HR consultancy company.
