“The effect of the financial market crisis will be very violent, because demand for IT will drop significantly. We will probably see the first bankruptcies in the industry and, as of next year, work force demand will drop very much, because most global players will invest increasingly less in research and development,” said Marin.
As major international IT companies, present also on the Romanian market, have reduced their growth prognoses for 2009, this will similarly reflect on the domestic market.
“It has been a good period for business, when we enjoyed investments in IT, but the period ahead is not so good,” added Marin.
“We cannot speak about acquisitions in this period, on the one hand because these are usually financed by loans, and on the other because if a company has problems, it is better to let it die than to buy it, and then take over the staff and clients,” explained Gabriel Marin.
Florin Talpes, President of the BitDefender security solutions producer, said that increasingly more difficult access to financing will lead to a drop in the growth registered in the past few years in IT.
