“We were perceived as an expensive destination compared to neighboring countries, such as Bulgaria or Hungary, where holiday packages are less expensive. Now, we can also be an accessible destination,” Draghici added.
The owner of the Invitation Romania travel agency, Gheorghe Fodoreanu, said that contracts with payments in euro will become standard on the incoming segment, which will provide higher revenue for operators, due to the depreciation of the leu.
“If you set the price for a service at €8, you charge this tariff for the entire year, because if the euro goes up you have more gain. If, on the other hand, you charge RON 30, the more the leu depreciates against the euro, the less you gain,” Fodoreanu explained.
