“Clustering wood manufacturing companies in the Mures County is unique in Romania, it is already a naturally-created cluster. It does not function as a cluster though, and we want to create this body, that would help companies interact,” Daniel Egri, General Manager of Mobex, one of the project’s initiators, told Business Standard
There are more than 1,000 furniture and furniture parts producers, wood manufacturers, and exploitation companies in the Targu Mures region.
“The crisis did not generate a wave of mergers and acquisitions in the industry, but what is happening is that companies are coming closer together. A few years ago, producers would not have accepted this cluster, now, they came to the conclusion that they can make joint expenses. Before, a producer would have felt offended to make only chair legs,” the President of the Romanian Furniture Manufacturers Association (APMR), Aurica Sereny, said.
