Thus, traders provided 1,744 GWh in November, down 10.1 percent from October, and 1,519 GWh in December, 12.9 percent less than in November. Industrial client consumption maintained its downward trend in January, but fell only 4.4 percent compared to December, to 1,452 delivered GWh.
In February, traders provided 1,436 GWh to the free market, a 1.1 percent decline from January, but 26 percent less than in October 2008. Several companies and complexes halted production in the November 2008-February 2009 period, due to the drop on foreign markets, as a result of the economic crisis.
“The consumption of energy is an economic barometer. It is obvious that as long as this remains low it indicates that the crisis continues,” said Doru Voicu, Development Manager of CEZ Romania.
