The location of southern Bucharest airport to be determined within three months

Minister of Transport Ludovic Orban declared on Friday that the location of the airport to be constructed in southern Bucharest will be determined within three month, as there is already an older feasibility study which requires some updating.

The Minister mentioned that there are several options for this project. The construction of the southern airport is due to be finalized within two years.

Due to real estate development in the southern region, and environmental regulations, there will be a drop in air traffic at the northern Bucharest Aurel Vlaicu Airport in Baneasa, resulting in traffic restrictions. Aurel Vlaicu will continue to serve as airport for small planes, helicopters, private and business aircraft. (NewsIn)
