The most expensive pair of shoes sold in 2009: €1,100

As far as the client profile is concerned, women spend the most on shoes, while men shop more rarely, even if prices are lower. On the market, prices amount to as much as €1,600, but no store sold any shoes in 2009 for more than €1,100.

By far, the leader of luxury shoe sales in 2009 remains designer Mihai Albu, who sold 28 pairs this year, with a price tag of €1,100.

Some Romanians choose to go shopping abroad, as is the case with fashion designer Romaniţa Iovan. “I have not bought a single pair of shoes for myself this year from Romania. I go to New York twice a year. There the supply is colossal, and I buy from there. There are three stores in Romania where I would buy shoes. Supply is even lower at present, as many stores closed down in 2009. However, one destination remains the Pacioti store,” Iovan said.

One of the events that marked the luxury shoe segment this year was the liquidation of the Exquisit store in Unirea Shopping Center, one of the first luxury shoe stores in the country, which closed its doors three months ago.
