The national currency declines to a reference exchange rate of 4.2597 lei/euro

BNR's exchange rate stood at 4.2326 lei per euro on Monday.

In the first part of the session, the leu fell from 4.2376 to 4.2565 versus the euro and then parked at 4.2614 lei per euro around 1 p.m.

For the U.S. dollar, BNR's exchange rate rose 0.91 percent to 3.3582 lei per dollar, from 3.3280 in the previous session.

On the international market, the dollar slipped from 1.2631 to 1.2686 per euro and then inched to 1.2678 dollars per euro around noon.

Overnight interests on the monetary market advanced to 5.95 – 6.45 percent a year and stand close to the key interest rate of 6.25 percent a year.
