Estimates for turnover show that the company could reach €273.6 mln, higher than the €239 mln year-on-year. Tarom’s spokesman, Madalin Tudor, said that the number of passengers will reach 2.39 million, up 25 percent from 2007. Growth estimates are based on new destinations and new aircraft the company has acquired.

Tarom plans to invest €13.7 million in 2008 in aircraft maintenance equipment, hardware and software products, and a new headquarters.

The company’s representatives announced that Tarom might rent medium distance planes following its loss of a Boeing 737 aircraft in an incident last year. Tarom has a fleet of 21 aircrafts.

Tarom flies to Valencia, Madrid, Bologna, Frankfurt, Munchen, Tel Aviv and Istanbul, and its internal flights include Timisoara, Cluj-Napoca and Baia Mare, with a 25 percent increase in the occupancy rate last year.
