In Romania, fuel prices have not had been subject to the same spectacular rise as those of the raw material. While oil prices increased by 70 percent, fuel prices rose by up to 30 percent in the past 12 months. Local market growth is double that of the largest fuel price adjustment in the region and three times higher than the European average.

Financial advisor Aurelian Dochia estimates that the correlation between the international price increase and the rise in fuel prices in Romania this year will be much tighter than it was in 2007.
