Bucharest is followed by Iasi, where the price of a one-bedroom apartment fell to €50,000 from €52,500 in April. Constanta and Brasov rank third, both with a €2,000 decline. Next on the list is Timisoara, with a €1,500 drop in the price of a one-bedroom apartment, while the lowest decline was registered in Cluj-Napoca, of only €150.
The national downward trend in prices is supported by reports by the National Union of Notaries Public from Romania, which indicates that the number of transactions with housing units and land fell 37 percent in the first three months, compared to the first quarter of 2008, to 78,321.
