The market value of the 87 companies amounted to €8.2 bln at the end of November 2008, according to a report by Banca Comerciala Romana (BCR) lender. The study includes both companies listed on the Bucharest Stock Exchange (BVB) and firms on the RASDAQ over-the-counter market.
The free-float of Banca Transilvania (BT) reached €546.6 million at the end of last month, nearly 70 percent of the total free-float capitalization of the 87 considered issuers. Banca Romana de Dezvoltare (BRD) lender ranks second, with a free-float capitalization worth €245.8 mln.
In terms of economic sectors, the oil segment registered the highest capitalization on the Stock Exchange, of €2.9 bln, followed by the banking system, at €2.3 bln, and utilities, at €658 million. The five financial investment companies (SIF) have a free-float capitalization of some €400 mln.
