Financial investments add to this, leading total foreign direct investments (FDI) to some €9 bln. Some €2.5 bln were invested in the capital of foreign companies in Bucharest, 7,000 more than in the Valcea, Botosani, Vaslui counties, the last on the list, which obtained less than €400,000 each for the entire year.
On the other hand, of the well-positioned counties, most owe their place to a single investor. The best example is that of Mures County, where E.ON contributed through its electricity and gas subsidiaries with €375 mln to the total €480 mln registered. In Suceava, the Egger company, operating in the wood industry, brought €65 mln to the county’s capital, of the total €85 mln.
In Bucharest, the largest investment does not exceed €230 mln, injected by Telemobil in three successive stages. Cosmote, with €100 mln, Credit Europe Bank, with €90 mln, and Roche, with 78 mln, are some of the large investors in Romania’s capital.
