The number of for sale announcements posted on local portals such as okazii.ro and anuntul.ro, and on foreign portals such as businessesforsale.com and buybusiness.com has been growing constantly in the past few months.
“If in previous years money and an entrepreneurial spirit, not necessarily very developed, were the only conditions to start a business on a very attractive consumer market, the economic phenomenon in the past year has sharply affected small entrepreneurs,” Robert Rosu, Partner of the Tuca Zbarcea&Asociatii law firm, told Business Standard.
“I would close down everything and go to Italy, to live off unemployment benefits offered by the Italian state,” said Adrian, 29, the owner of a travel agency put up for sale on anuntul.ro. After working in the real estate field, Adrian decided in 2008 to open a travel agency, in which he invested some €200,000. “It did not work at all this year. If I manage to get €100,000, I should be grateful,” he added.
The businesses put up for sale come on top of the more than 100,000 decisions by local entrepreneurs to stop activating on the market, since the minimum tax was introduced on 1 May.
