The study shows that some 76.7 percent of all persons involved declared that the internet is the main source to which they turn for information regarding reservations, costs and other general data in terms of a holiday destination.
“The profile of the tourist who uses on-line platforms to buy a holiday is as follows: travels abroad at least once a year, acquires his tour package one month before departure, allocates a budget of €350-500 per person, often buys products and services through the internet, and believes that virtual travel agencies are more efficient than classical ones in terms of time spent choosing a suitable holiday,” said Georgiana Corsau, PR Account Executive of D’Avantage Consult.
Carmen Pavel, General Manager of J’Info Tours, believes that some 50 percent of those acquiring tour packages over the internet at present are interested in the leisure segment.
