The top average net salary amounted to RON 3,186 (€953) in September, compared to RON 2,653 (€830) in August. This refers to salaries earned by financial mediators (banks, leasing companies, stock exchange, not including insurance and pension companies). This is a rise of RON 533 (€159.54), close to the level of the lowest average net salary, of RON 603 (€180.49), paid in the wood industry, excepting furniture.
The top September average salary is not this year's highest. In May, the monthly wage of financial mediators was RON 3,746 (€1,142), this year's record, 17.5 percent higher than that of September, despite the 20 percent increase registered in September from August. From May to August, the top average salary dropped to RON 2,653 (€830) from RON 3,746 (€1,142).
In the entire economy, the average gross nominal salary was RON 1,411 (€422) in September 2007, up 1.1 percent from August. The average net nominal salary was RON 1,040 (€311) in September, up 1.1 percent or RON 10 (€3) from the previous month.
