According to brokers, the outstanding evolution on BVB was supported by positive financial results in the first quarter of 2008, published by companies, and by the return of foreign investors to the local market. This good evolution “comes after more than 10 months of decline, when the volume of losses exceeded earnings in April,” said Adrian Ceuca, Deputy General Manager of Broker Cluj brokerage company.
Ceuca is expecting a consolidation of the current stock market levels.
Companies in the chemical industry registered the highest growth on BVB. Thus, Azomores and Amonil fertilizer producers rose 326.8 percent and 88.3 percent, respectively, while the Oltchim chemical plant rose 55.7 percent.
