Those who have not registered as unemployed have either found a new job or have met requirements for retirement.
At the territorial level, the number of jobless rose in 31 counties in October, of which most affected counties were Dambovita (1,461 people), Constanta (1,123 people), Hunedoara and Alba (with over 1,000 people each), and Buzau (692 people).
The highest jobless rates were registered in Mehedinti (8.7 percent), Vaslui (7.7 percent), Teleorman (7.6 percent), and Dolj (seven percent) counties, while Timis County claimed the lowest rate (1.3 percent).
In terms of region, most unemployed were registered in the southwest (6.2 percent), northeast (4.9 percent), and south (4.8 percent), regions in which rural activities are preponderant.
Although the jobless rate rose by a mere 0.1 percentage points in October, and authorities indicated this is normal growth for the period, due to seasonal unemployment, expected to rise further in November, because of massive layoffs announced by several companies.
