Craciun replaces Florina Tanase, who took over as Vice President of pharmaceutical group A&D Pharma. He has been part of UPC’s management since 2006, when he served as Regulatory Compliance Manager. Prior to that he was Legal Director of POSTelecom, and held several managerial positions within the former General Inspectorate for Communications and Information Technology (IGCTI) and the Ministry of Communications.
The company’s new CTO is a French citizen, who previously worked for UPC France, where he held a similar position since 1998. An engineer by profession, Coggiola has been involved in the cable communication industry for 30 years.
UPC Romania has over 1.3 million clients in some 200 towns. Since it came onto the market 16 years ago, UPC has invested over €700 mln. As of 31 December 2007, the Romanian operator had 1.185 mln cable TV clients (CATV), 37,400 digital cable subscribers, and 115,500 satellite cable clients. Its telephone segment subscribers increased 70.92 percent in 2007, to 96,400 clients.
UPC is affiliated with U.S. Liberty Global, which supplies video, voice and internet services to 16 million clients in 17 countries.
