Bucharest ranks last on the list in terms of prices, being the least expensive city in Europe. More exactly, Romania’s capital ranks 67th for prices and 56th in terms of salaries, followed only by Sofia in Europe.
On the whole, the least expensive cities are Cairo, Kuala Lumpur, Manila, New Delhi, and Mumbai, while the lowest salaries are registered in Ciudad de Mexico, New Delhi, Manila, Jakarta, and Mumbai.
On the other hand, the most expensive cities, with the highest prices, are Oslo, Copenhagen, Zurich, Geneva, Tokyo, and New York. In terms of salaries, almost the same cities, Copenhagen, Zurich, Geneva, New York, Oslo, and Los Angeles head the UBS list.
The UBS analysis is based on a basket calculated for 95 goods and 27 services, with this basket some 35 percent less expensive in Eastern European cities than in Western cities.
