This phone book will include the phone numbers of all users of mobile and land line telephony that want their number published, irrespective of the provider .
ANRCTI will submit the project for public debate by August, according company officials. The draft decision will determine what form this register will adopt. Phone companies will have the obligation of making these records publicly available on an internet site or in hard copy.
Clients will decide at no additional cost whether the phone number and other identification data may appear in the register, and what types of information this should include. Furthermore, data will be subject to change or removal at the client's discretion and at no charges, reads the release.
This is the first step to normalizing Romanian telecommunications, provided that only Romtelecom has printed a phone book. Moreover, such a phone register will eliminate prank calls made from mobile phones using a prepaid card, that cannot be linked to a certain user.
