This decision was taken after President Traian Basescu criticized roughly the Police and the Gendarmerie on Sunday for their protest “which undermined the state's authority”. Basescu asked the Executive to solve the discipline issue from the Police and the Gendarmerie.
The state secretary on administration, Mihai Capra, the chief of Gendarmerie, Olimpiodor Antonescu, the head of Romania's Police, Petre Toba, the government secretary and the chief of public order department, Dan Valentin Fatuloiu, as well as the head of the anti-corruption general department (DGA), Liviu Popa, wrote their resignations and will decide if they leave the ministry after a meeting with Vasile Blaga.
However, the democrat-liberals told NewsIn earlier today that the Interior Ministry will be administered by someone else from the Democrat-Liberal Party (PDL) if Vasile Blaga decides to give up his position, as this portfolio belonged to PDL from the beginning.
