This is the highest position ever occupied by a Romanian within the Big Four. Iuga was also the first Romanian to hold the Managing Partner position in one of the Big Four local branches in 2004. As was the case then, the new Managing Partner of SEE Cluster PwC replaces Jean-Pierre Vigroux.
This move is part of the ascension of a generation of Romanian managers who are not only replacing expats as head of local branches, but are also taking one step further to take on regional managing positions. The most important Romanian managers with regional positions are Dan Bedros, President of Alcatel for 12 countries, Alexandra Gatej, President of Unilever South Central Europe (USCE), Adrian Sarbu, COO of Central European Media Enterprise (CME), and Cristian Colteanu, Regional General Electric Executive for Romania, Bulgaria, Turkey and Russia.
In the four years since taking over the management of PwC in Romania, the company’s turnover increased threefold, to some $54 million (€34.9 mln) by the end of the company’s financial year on 30 June 2008, from $17 mln (€11 mln), increasing 40 percent compared to the previous financial year.
Iuga will carry on as Country Managing Partner, but will lead a business that is twice as large, and he proposes as objective an average 25 percent annual growth.
