The transaction is estimated to be worth some €150-250 million, which means that VIG recovered at least €156 mln invested to buy a majority stake in Unita, Omniasig and Asirom. VIG also acquired the BCR Asigurari and BCR Asigurari de viata insurers, in a transaction worth €1.4 billion.
VIG bought Unita for a mere €11 mln in 2001. In 2005, the company acquired Omniasig for €68 mln. In 2007, following the Asirom acquisition for €77 mln, VIG became market leader in Romania.
