Vodafone growth to drop to 1%

“Registered revenues reflect the intense competition which led to a drop in prices on the market, to lower interconnectivity tariffs, and client consumption oriented towards efficiency. However, these were compensated by a rise in revenues from data,” indicated the group’s report. Regarding the evolution of the operator’s revenues in 2009, the company’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Liliana Solomon, said that an annual decline in the growth pace of revenues is inevitable, considering that Romania is a mature market.”Moreover, in 2009 we are facing the impact of regulation decisions on our revenues, and also a difficult and unpredictable economic climate. In such conditions, our priority is operating efficiency at company level, to be able to continue having a cash flow which will allow us to invest in the network, in new services and products, and in broadband mobile data,” Solomon added. The number of total Vodafone subscribers soared 19 percent last year, to 9.649 million, while the growth registered in the third fiscal quarter was 1.4 percent. The operator had 1.134 million 3G clients at the end of 2008, an annual 88 percent rise.
